Ok.. ever since I read abt how having Ur same songs in diff. Libraries can cause bidding war issues, I swore against doing that...
However, I have another question abt having Ur music in 1 Library...
& at the same time... pitching the same songs directly to clients...
My question would be... Does doing this cause any of the same/new issues?
For instance, if I have a track "raise Ur hands" in Library X (semi-exclusive)... & then a Tv show (my direct contact) wants to use "raise Ur hands" for their series... Would this cause any "bidding wars" or other related problems?

Re: Bidding wars question
Hi KO,
In your example there wouldn't be much of a difference as if 2 or more libraries were pitching your song to the same client. Except for the fact that you might be competing against the very same library you signed the non-exclusive deal with.
What you would want to do in that case is pitch your song to different types of clients that the library you have the song signed with doesn't usually deal with. For example if the library mainly pitches to TV & film, you can try pitching to video games or maybe directly to Artists.

Re: Bidding wars question
Kel,
the conflict only exists if you are pitching to the same market/shows as the library. If the library e.g pitches to US TV and movies only and the show/network you are pitching to is in Australia, then there is no problem. If the library pitches to scripted programming only and your contacts are in reality or sports tv, no problem.
But if you pitched the song to a tv show that is also using the library in question as a resource, then there is a conflict which could result in all kinds of problems.
Most libraries will tell you if they pitch to a specific show or not if you send them an email saying you have a contact at show XYZ and want to make sure there's no conflict.
HTH,
