Not tight?

Got a return for the following listing:

ROCK METAL INSTRUMENTALS a la the wide variety of AC/DC, Metallica, Velvet Revolver, Korn, Incubus, etc., needed by the President/CEO of a Sports Training Music Website. Tracks can range in tempo from 60 to 145 bpm. INSTRUMENTALS ONLY. He specifically stated that all tracks must be recorded with a steady beat (to a metronome or click). Recording and instrumental demo presentation must be top-notch! The compensation for usage of your music is 0.15 cents per download and an artist profile/link on the site. I submitted a single tune which would have been forwarded save for the tightness, namely during the halftime sections. I listen to it and it seems tight to me.. am I off here? I'm encouraged overall with the feedback but don't hear any big variances from the beat.

Actualy, I know exactly what the screener was talking about. The bass guitar is coming in on some weird beats that really distract from the melody of the electric guitar. Just double the guitar line with the bass guitar and you should be set. It is a small fix.

While you're at it, consider putting the bass a tad lower in the mix. It is a bit muddy right now.

Good luck in the future with this piece. It is good, but yeah, it does need tightening.

I can see what you're saying but the critique was hinting that the parts weren't tight.. they referenced using a click etc.. While my choice of bassline may not be typical I think its in time etc. On the other hand it may very well be what you mention.. I wish.. if that were the case, that the explanation were more concise though. Telling me to simplify the bass or follow the guitar parts would make alot more sense.

I hear that the guitar and bass aren't completely locked in with the drums on the half time section, more on the second time it comes in at the end, but I hear a couple of beats that aren't quite there at the beginning too. I think you'll need to go back and compare the tracks visually in your DAW. Put on your cans, close your eyes and forget that it's you playing and listen closely to the timing of the bass and guitar and you'll hear it. It's slight, but it's not quite locked. If it was locked, it would sound even better.

the guitar is rushing making for a very 'loose' sound. The biggest infraction is at the very top of the track.

I "felt" more than heard the issue the screener mentioned. It was like a feeling of hesitation in a number of places.
