Everyone knows that the music biz is changing because of the Internet, and I read a great article yesterday in the L.A. Times about a local band that is learning to go with that flow. Interesting reading!
I read the article and it had some interesting points, but I came away feeling that The Afternoons (now "Shadow Shadow Shade") had no great insight in how to score in this business. They seemed as lost as the rest of us, and maybe that's what the article was about...no one has really found a good way to monetize what they do musically today. I suppose it will be a while before someone hits on something repeatable, other than "finding spark and tinder wherever it may be." I think we'll be in the hunter/gatherer mode musically for a spell.
