I am having a difficult time finding opurtunities to submit to. Does anyone with some experiance with the site want to take a quick listen to the music we are making and perhaps offer some suggestions. We have worked hard to develop our own sound, and I don't know if this site is a good match for those working outside of mainstream/ popular sounds...Any help would be greatly apreciated. Nice work!
To me your music sounds like alt.rock in the Taxi language. Besides those references you have I heard resemblances Flaming Lips, Pixies, Beck, Snow Patrol ect. also, to mention some popular ones that's often in the listings.
You perhaps mix genres a little bit more with rock'n roll & jazz elements, but almost any alternative rock listing sounds spot on to me!
Particularly cross genre songs can be difficult to place, I guess, so you might want to consider doing a "Taxi version" (for a particular listing) when you are recording, anyway. Just for the bread and butter, you know.
.. and then just carry on the good work

Wow. What great music! I just added myself to your fan list.
If I were you, I'd keep checking "Hard to Classify" and "Alternative" as well as Film/TV listings. Maybe "World Music" too. I only say that because I go to Central Park Summerstage every summer which presents a lot of eclectic sounds from all over the world and I think you'd fit right in there.
You have a great unique sound.
Good Luck!

Re: Where do we go?
This is really good, original stuff! I reckon rock and alt rock is right, but you may well have more joy with submitting to film and tv listings. This is exactly the sort of music that you hear first in a scene from a TV show or film and then go online to find out more about it. How about pitching it for some of the library listings as well - library guys are always looking out for original sounding, well performed, well recorded music....
Hope that helps! Simon

Re: Where do we go?
thanks for the feedback. I have been gearing our stuff towards the Americana listings, but to no avail. We did get 1 forward, from someone looking for Polka music, but we never heard anything after that. I am seriously debating whether or not this site is worth the money, I suppose I try the alt-rock film listings and we shall see
