Living In Purgatory - Mix Feedback Please

Post by Casey H » Tue Feb 16, 2010 6:16 pm

Hi
This is an almost finished project. I'm looking mainly for feedback on the mix-- relative levels of various instruments, vocal, etc. Comments on any and all aspects are welcome though.

You can play the song and read lyrics using this link:

Thanks
:) Casey

PS Production and performance by L'Angelo Mysterioso Productions... ;)

Living In Purgatory © CPH ... Do not steal ;)
Another morning
I drink my coffee alone
You asked for distance
You said you just don’t know
I’m so helpless like a child needing you
Here at your mercy
There’s nothing I can do

(chorus)
You say that you need
Some time and space
So I’ll be waiting
On the judgment day
Living in purgatory
I wait on your
I wait on your
I wait on your grace

My friends all tell me
That you’re just biding time
To let me down easy
For some other guy
Sometimes things in life are different than they seem
So I won’t give up my hope
That you’ll come back to me

(chorus)

(bridge)
Did I take you for granted?
Did I act like I didn’t care?
I guess you tried to tell me
Every word you said hangs in the air
I can be so unaware

(chorus)

Thanks Jennifer!
That's not me playing or singing- I'm a non-performer. I write 'em and hire production folks.

Sounds really great Casey!
The perc sounds kinda distant but I think that's probably what was intended.
I'm the king of mixing loud drums!

I think it sounds excellent!

I too was going to comment on the drums being a little distant, but I am married to a drummer and tend to mix them loud as well.

Listened to the song several times, very nice.

Casey

Haunting start.

Acoustic clean and bright. Don't like that quick strum. Maybe a little delay there. Hurried/abrupt.

Perfect harmony.

I don't have the savy to look for the lyrics in the site, so I won't comment.

Like the minor chord in the prechorus.

Sounds very film to me.

Vox is a good fit.

Nice work

Paul

Hey Casey,

I remember commenting on your rough.

This is great, great feel, great vocal. Lyric turned out real well.

No help from me on the mix.

As I was listening I was kinda hoping the end would explode into a full on raging rock chorus ... still great without that ... not even sure it would work .. just what I was hoping.

Oooh very cool! Would comment on the production stuff but I just don't know much about all that quite yet. Love the minor chords- spooky/cool/creepy/lovely all in one.

The singer did a great job too!
