Hi Casey - Really nice song. Vocals sounded good, drums - as mentioned - sounded a little distant. Not sure about the snare rolls every so often.

I thought the lyrics worked well. I wasn't entirely sure about the words "judgment day" -- they have a somewhat religious, apocalyptic connotation, at least to me. But maybe that's exactly what the situation felt like to the singer, something portentous and life-changing. If so, good choice!

The only real problem I had is with those arpeggiated guitar lines. It gives a rushed, abrupt quality to the song that doesn't seem to fit the mood. And the quickly strummed guitar chords leading into the pre-chorus and out of the chorus sound really rushed, as if being played to a metronome with no time to take a breath. Overall, I think the guitar accompaniment could be sparser, more relaxed, and more chordal-based. One other thing to possibly consider is the overuse of the sus 4 chord. I'm sure other people may disagree, but to my ears, it started to make me uncomfortable -- I wanted a straight C chord to release the tension every now and then.

Those are my nit-picky impressions. The song itself is very moving, and if you have the desire to keep working on it, I think you could have a real gem here.

I really love this song, great blend with acoustic guitar/vocal and orchestra.
I will listen more carefully on the production later today with my head phones.

This reminds me a little of Greg Lake's stuff from Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
They did a live recording with LSO and all the members also did some solo stuff.

I think that production sounds terrific. Nothing sounds wrong, I think the critiques are more like personal preferences. You write great songs, this sounds really cinematic, I'm guessing that's what you were thinking? To me it sounds ready to be released.

Nice song Casey... very 'majestic' qualities to the piece... like the orchestration.

Think I can relate to what REMET said about the guitar appegios wearing out their welcome slightly.. a little variance in their volume through selected sections would remedy it... a dash of reverb on the chorus or something, etc. The attack is too similiar thru the entire piece... considering everthing else is breathing so well. Subjective I guess... Sounding great otherwise.!

If you check out the review you'll see I'm not posting it because I was told my song is great-- not so at all! This is a tough and critical review with a number of suggestions for making it more marketable. I just wanted to encourage people to take advantage of something available with their membership.

Now I may not do major surgery to the song right now- I'll get it out there and see what other feedback I get on taxi listings and other industry submissions. BUT everything in this review will be under serious consideration for later. Often I re-visit things after letting them sit awhile. The wheels will be turning.
