Help with song submit

Post by BobbySwift » Sat Feb 27, 2010 1:50 pm

I am not sure on my song "Rainbow Rider" if I sould submit and Country, Pop or Rock.
Any help on the genre from your ears would be very helpfull. I am new to all this and with the great talent here on TAXI forum, I hope to get better direction as I am kinda stuck in thought.
I am thinking country but the more I think about it the more lost I am, LOL...
Thank you for any help,
Bobby

I can tell why you think this is country (given the chicken pickin going on in that lead guitar!) Wicked guitar skills by the way!
But to me - this is ROCK, blues/country ROCK.
This sounds like ZZ Top to my ears.
So you need to wait for those listings asking for americana, blues rock, rock, classic rock.

Excellent song by the way!
I am humming it now, and probably will be for some time!

Cheers,
Nick

P.S. - FEAR should be targeted to anything asking for laid back Jimmy Buffet style pieces! (of which I remember seeing 2 or 3 of lately!)
You've made a fan out of me! I really like your stuff! :)

Hey Nick,
thank you for the kind words and feed back. I will go in listings and take a look. I appreciate your help and glad to leave you humming after the song. Working on my next song this coming week and hope to one day find artists for a couple songs. You take care and you made my day with the great feed back.
Thank you,
Bobby.

Thank you for your feed back and I am happy you liked it. I will give it some thought on both angles and make a choice soon, I hope, LOL...

Nice song. Def. a ZZ Top thing going on. With that being said, I highly recommend using a real bassist instead of the keyboard/midi bass. It will really give the song more dynamics in the low end. Also, consider keeping the bass lower in the mix, especially if you are going to keep the current sound. So, either use a real bass player or lower the volume. Maybe if you lower the volume, it wont sound like keyboard bass. I don't know. Just a suggestion.

If you did indeed use a real bassist for this song, disregard my post because I am obviously an idiot.

Good work. -Jeff

I love the song. I think you should submit this to Country listings. The rock listings seem to lean toward alternative which doesn't really have the great guitar playing you have. I guess you could look for Contemporary Country like Trent Tomlinson or Hank Williams Jr. I see those ocassionally.

Hi Dorothy,

thank you for your kind words and reply. I will look into those choices and consider Trent. You have a great week and thank you again,

Bobby,

Really enjoyed the song. I don't listen to a lot of rock these days, but to me this is definitely country, not rock, both the music and lyrics. The lyrics especially sound country.

Walt.

Nice song, Bobby! Crazy skillz on that axe!!!! I think genre is country rock, but might work for the classic rock listings too.. Good punch in the mix, but I thought the vocal performance could be more confident. That may be the only thing that'll compromize it IMO.
