Re: where to post
Hey bing, best place to post your work is in "Peer to Peer".
It's best to post one song at a time and let us know if you have any specific questions regarding, production, lyrics, structure etc.
also, letting us know what your goal for the song is can be helpful as well, film/tv or an artist pitch, or whatever.

I'm very new, too, but all of my stuff is copywritten...
While your work is *YOURS* once you write it down, etc... I always feel much more confident knowing that anything I post *anywhere* has already been 'legally' copywritten as well.
You can go to http://www.copyright.gov.eco and list your songs in one "literary work" volume for a $35 flat fee. I'm not sure if there's maximum number of songs/poems you can submit at one time, but if there is a limit, that number is high.
Good luck and welcome!

If they stole your stuff, demoed it, pitched it, got it signed and recorded by an artist and one day you heard it on the radio you'd be money ahead.
Then all you do is sue them, kick back and collect the money, It's not a bad gig.
Copyright is the best form of protection, but you'll have to do it again when you get signed by a publisher cause they usually want 1/2 the rights. and again once the master is cut. But you can't ever be to careful these days. gl
