New Member, 17 yrs. old, Would Appreciate Feedback!

Post by shea » Fri Apr 02, 2010 8:48 am

Hey. I'm Shea, a new Taxi member, and would really appreciate feedback on some songs I'd like to submit. Dystopia and Surprise Surprise are the two newest songs, but I also think there is some merit in Where You Are, Intertwine and Artificial Life. I could use some help with genre identification, too. Would you categorize the four songs as Alternative, with Surprise Surprise being more Pop, and could they all also be submitted under Rock, too? Thanks so much.

I listened to "Surpise, Surprise". Nice tune, though I can't give you legitimate feedback, 'cause it's not the genre I do.
Here's a really important first hint. Do NOT ask for feedback on all your tunes at once. Ask for feedback on one tune at a time, and post the lyrics. There are a lot of talented people asking for comments, and they do it one song at a time.
Welcome to the forums, there are a lot of people on here who have better ears than I do. They'll help you out.

Nice songs shea. They sounded pop/punk/rock/alternative to me. As for the listings you wanna submit them under, I can't advise you in that area cause Im also new here. But alternative and rock listings sound like logical choices for your songs to me.

Rock on!!

i agree with Ott, one song in one thread... so i wont comment on all the songs though i specialize in Alternative rock and Contemporary rock.. i dont have much time right now.

yes, your songs are sort of alternative rock with punkpop taste, some emo-ish (vocal wise, reminds me of Dashboard Confessional) . But current Alternative rock can be bit heavier than your sound, think of Paramore or The Academy Is.. etc.. their guitars are very punchy and heavy.

you have not mentioned if you are pitching to label listings or film/tv, it helps ppl to advise you better if you are more specific than saying "can you listen to all the songs in my site, and comment, tell us what genre is.." you can pick just one song and be specific.. for film/tv? comment on lyrics, melody, production, or style etc..? this way, you will benefit more from others here. :D :D

cheers !

Hi there Shea,

Wow, killer stuff, guys!! You got the schiiiz' :D
Taeko has the ears here, she knows this genre VERY well!

I would consider submitting your songs to the AAA/Alternative/Modern Rock listings at Taxi. Both for songs and bands.

I'm sure you'll be in the forwards section real soon. This is happening IMO!

Your stuff is good.

You don't need help as I see it.

Great to see someone your age with such great possibilities.

Good luck to you.

Sincerely

Paul

Welcome Shea,

Your music is really good. I think you could go with "alternative" or "pop" listings.

Sorry I got off to a bad start here. I’ll know for next time. I guess I was just trying to find out how to get things going as far as genre and which of these 5 songs people thought might be good enough to submit. Thanks for the great comments and suggestions.

You should submit all five of them, and get the important feedback from the Taxi screeners IMO That'll give you really valuable input for taking your music to the next level..

Hey, just trawling through some old postings and listened to Dystopia. Captivating from the first notes! Great vocal and vibe. I wish you all the very best with your pursuits.
