"Forever Grateful", Contemporary Christian
Hey everybody this is a song I wrote and just submitted to a contemporary Christian listing. It's called "Forever Grateful" I just wanted some opinions on the song. I did the best I could with production, I was kind of pushed for time. Thanks for any comments. -TIM

FOREVER GRATEFUL
Tim Settle
VERSE 1
You, Fill the cup of my life
You have kept this faith alive
By the miracles I see
VERSE 2
And You, Give me strength when I can’t fight
Wrap Your arms around me tight
When fear has cornered me
Oh and the list goes on
CHORUS
And to count all Your heavenly blessings
Is a night of counting stars
Even they’re to far apart
And You give a love so undeserving
To a man who falls so short
From the glory of the Lord
And I could never do what you’ve done for me
But I’ll always be, forever grateful
VERSE 3
Yeah You, are the rock that I stand on
You gave me hope when all was gone
You mean everything to me
And You, precious Lord you understand
When there’s no one else who can
You have never lead me wrong
Oh and the list goes on and on
CHORUS
And to count all your heavenly blessings
Is a night of counting stars
Even they’re to far apart
And You give a love so undeserving
To a man who falls so short
From the glory of the Lord
And I could never do what you’ve done for me
But I’ll always be, forever grateful
BRIDGE
I could never count what’s been given
There’s no ending to Your grace
LAST CHORUS
And I could never to what you’ve done for me
But I’ll always be, forever grateful
Forever grateful.

Yer Welcome Tim. I just listened to the songs on your Taxi page, Man, if you don't get a deal as a writer or artist, that would be a crying shame. You are one of the best writers and singer, that I've heard on this forum....no bull!
You remind me of a guy that used to be here, but sadly he passed away awhile back. His name was Gary Driskel (bigdrisk)
He had won several Dove awards and was a great writer. You don't win Dove awards without being pretty good..you agree? Taxi pretty much laid waste to his country tunes...well, laid waste is kinda harsh, but did throw some dirt on his stuff. But
they tend to do that with the country stuff. You might be even better than Gary
Wow, it's so cool to find talent like yours floating around.
I'm just impressed...hopefully Taxi will be as well.
I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your forwards.......
Peace to you
Steve

Man, you are the real deal
! I seriously like your voice and your gift in getting across a message very poetically through your lyrics. You remind me of Jeremy Camp a lot.
I don't think there's any major faults in your song. My only critique is that I really wanted to hear the full chorus again after the bridge, it would have definitely left me even more satisfied as a listener. I'm sure a lot of believers would appreciate this song.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if your song got forwarded. Matter of fact, I think it deserves to be.
God bless.
Ken.

Tim, very nice I sensed the Lord in this my brother, well done. Couple of comments, I'd like to hear the vocals more upfront and I'd like to hear the song grow instrumentally, have new instruments added as the song moves foward, nothing to distract from the vocals of course as with CCM the vocals are everything. I can see this used in movies as a background to a faith type scene and on radio and sung in church. Really like the vocals on this, lots of feel just a touch to quiet for my ears. I'd love the intensity of the song to peak with that last chorus and really take this to the mountain...
Bless ya,
William

That's exactly what I said to him in another post (i.e. it's good to hear others saying the say thing)remoteoutofcontrol wrote:Man, you are the real deal!

Tim, this is impressive. The only criticisms I have are:
1. Your vocal tone is a bit funny on some of the notes that you hold (it's easy to fix this).
2. The lyrical line in the chorus , "Even they’re too far apart" doesn't work for me. I know what you are trying to say but....it makes it sound like the blessings are far apart (i.e. few and far between). It comes out saying the opposite to what you intended.
Stuart

Wow. What a beautiful song! Beautifully crafted melody, passionate vocal with great tone and heart - and it has a great sense of Presence about it. Let us know if you get forwarded? The only lyric that didn't ring true for me was 'the list goes on and on' - I know what are you conveying, but it feels like a filler lyric to me - perhaps because it is such a common phrase.

Re: "Forever Grateful", Contemporary Christian
Thanks alot (Ken, William, Stuart, and Kathryn) for taking time to listen to my song! I was thinking about what stuart said, how in the chorus "They're to far apart" might be conveying the opposite of what i'm trying to say. I've never really realized this until he said that. He's absolutely right, it's kind of a bummer to me! I hope this one gets forwarded too, but I have not had to much success on here so far. I was also hoping that "The list goes on" in the end of the verses would be a very catchy part of the song, it was for me anyway. Anyways. Thanks again you guys for all your comments I really do need all the help I can get.

Hi,
Nice tune, I'll listen back with headphones later. Overall nice flow. When you said "the list goes on" I thought it was a lead into the chorus, and that the chorus would be a list of items. no biggie but it sounds like a lead into something. Very nice tune though, thanks for posting. I don't get to here CCM to often and this didn't shove God down my throat like some songs do. It was very low key and had a nice Country vibe. I think it's destine for a Country vibe CCM listing. gl
