Contemporary Christian vs Christian Pop Rock Genre?

Post by ehm » Wed Apr 21, 2010 5:14 am

What is the correct genre to be stylistically on Target for music described as Christian Pop Rock? How does this differ from Contemporary Christian listings, if at all? Is there any other genres were Christian music is stylistically on Target? :?

I'm not sure...but I'd be interested in the answer to this question too.

I'm looking at the BillBoard charts now. The Christian Adult Contemporary chart and Christian Songs chart have "All of Creation" by MercyMe at #1, "What Faith Can Do" at #2 and "There is a Way" at #3.

The Christian CHR Chart (I think that stands for Contemporary Hit Radio) has "Something Beautiful" by Need to Breathe at #1, "Get Back Up" by TobyMac at #2 and "Walk on the Water" by Britt Nicole at #3.

I think CHR has more rock. You can go to Itunes or Amazon and listen to samples to get an idea. There isn't a Christian Rock chart in BillBoard.

Good Luck!
Dorothy
