Hi Folks:
I'm a newbie here - this is my first forum posting actually - and it's been really helpful reading people's posts and listening to various members music. I'm really excited about joining Taxi, and it's been really pushing me to become a better composer in already in the two months I've been a member. Even if I never end up getting a deal, that's almost worth the price of membership!
So I got my first submission returned. Just wondered if anyone would like to give it a listen and comment. The critique I got was fairly positive, but the main point they seemed to have was that I needed to develop the electronic beats on the tune more. Thing is, the listing specifically said that fully acoustic music were fine to submit as well. Maybe I should have left this as an acoustic tune, without trying to add a chill-out/electro feel to it (which I'm not so good at yet). They also said the solo was too long, and I guess that's probably true for something intended as film/tv music. Also, I probably shouldn't have faded out at the end. Apart from that, notice anything else you think I could improve here? Any comments would be much appreciated!
The tune is called "Sufi" and it's at: http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... lucasmoore

Lukas,
Welcome to the forum.
Could you post the listing that you submitted this track to. A big part of getting forwards is reading "into" the listing.
You can submit a great piece of music that doesn't fit the listing and the outcome will be a return.

Re: world music return - any feedback?
This is a new listing that's basically the same (probably the same company), with the only difference being that now they're asking for tracks with vocals and the one one I responded to (which isn't being run anymore) was asking for the same kind of thing, but instrumental tracks.
WORLD MUSIC SONGS - with Vocals - needed by Producer/Publisher (in a joint venture with a Major Music Publisher) to market tracks internationally for its Music Library. Styles capturing a global region (India, French, Middle Eastern, Asian, etc.) that blend Chill/Electronica/Hip-Hop grooves are preferred. Organic tracks without loops are also accepted (grooves must feel authentic and natural). Deals range from works-for-hire to joint works to 50/50 equitable splits (composers will receive 100% of writer's share). Must be able to work comfortably in a team environment and open to input for edits and revisions as needed. Composers must be able to deliver digital files to comply with spec requirements and Broadcast quality is needed (excellent sounding home recordings are fine). This company is asking that you submit more than one song for this listing. Please submit two to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Tuesday, April 27, 2010.
