Re: newbie mike kakos
hi again everyone.
thanks for your welcomes. looking forward to mixing it up ( no pun ) with taxi die hards.
still a little lost with the general stuff. are the critiques by taxi done as a side thing? i believe each one costs $20 and they do a thorough job analyzing it for you. correct?
submissions for a particular publication are $5 apiece? does taxi analyze these songs also?
has anyone tried the dispatch thing and how often do they pop up on your email?
i would like to put up a list of my songs for all to hear but because my vocals are not the greatest i am leery. i know most of you can look past this to see the songs potential but still does a first impression amount to something here? i welcome all opinions as i try to be very objective about my works. no ego problem here i think (lol).
i visited a few sites and heard some very interesting music. i am so stuck in the sixties. help!

Re: newbie mike kakos
Mike .. The $20 fee is if you want a song critiqued that you dont list or has a "Y" in the listing number.. Just for your own pleasure ... The "S" listings get an automatic critique for the $5... Ive never done a dispatch yet , Im thinking about it.. so maybe someone else can help there , but I Know they dont critique dispatch listing .. unless you pay the extra $20 seperately from the $5 listing fee..
By all means put up the link to your Taxi site, or whatever, so we can see what you got ...
Your stuck in the 60S?... Me too .. Seems everything I do comes out psychedelic, dope smokin sounding... When you want a particular song critiqued by we (or us) Taxi passengers put it on the peer to peer group. and specify which song .. Then you'll get lots of tips and helpful hints on making it better , or just get praise if its already perfect or If noone responds , as I have figured out , I think it means your song sucks .. I have yet to see ainsult on this thing .. everybody is sooo helpful and friendly.. So Good luck and Happy Composing

Hey Mike!
Thanks for subscribing to my newsletter and free e-course! And I look forward to "meeting" you next Thursday!
One of the best ways to update your own sound is to listen to current music. You can listen to current radio or use Pandora to explore different styles.
Listen for structure (both lyric and chord/melody), instrumentation and rhythm. What are they doing that makes a particular song sound current? How could you apply that information to the arrangement of one of your songs? And start playing with that.
The other thing you could consider is collaborating with someone who really has the style down that you want to shift into.
Hope that helps!
Debra
