Children Songs?

Post by glender » Thu Apr 29, 2010 1:02 pm

I wrote a children's sing-a-long (or at least I think I did  ) but I don't see any children listings anywhere. Not exactly sure what to do with it. Your thoughts welcome.

Easy on my lyrics, it's not quite done. hehe

Honey Bees

(1st Verse)
How do a million honey bees get along
You’d think with that much buzzin
There’d be something wrong
But their just minding their own business
Keeping time to their favorite song
So I guess that’s how a million honey bees get along

Buzz buzz… buzz… buzz
Buzz buzz… buzz… buzz

(2nd Verse)
In my next life, I want to come back as a honey bee
You’re guaranteed a nice home, and a great big family
You’ve got the Queen Bee running the whole show
Ain’t that the way life’s supposed to be
So in my next life I wanna come back as a honey bee

Buzz buzz… buzz… buzz
Buzz buzz… buzz… buzz

(3rd Verse)
Now we don’t mind folks comin round are home
We give out honey bee treats to everyone we know
All we ask is that you mind your bees wax
And when you move please do it slow
Cause if you get um mad
You’re in more trouble than you know

Buzz buzz… buzz… buzz
Buzz buzz… buzz… buzz

(4th Verse)
I wish this world could think like a honey bee
It takes a lot a resolve to be part of a family
But if everyone pulls together
Just think how happy we would be
Oh I wish this world could think like a honey bee

Buzz buzz… buzz… buzz
Buzz buzz… buzz… buzz

(Repeat 1st Verse)
How do a million honey bees get along
You’d think with that much buzzin
There’d be something wrong
But their just minding their own business
Keeping time to their favorite song
So I guess that’s how a million honey bees get along

Buzz buzz… buzz… buzz
Buzz buzz… buzz… buzz
Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

(End Song)

Hmmm....the children I know don't know all the words you are using. I like the idea of bees buzzing and I think it needs to be a bit more repetitive in the 'sing a long' lines.

There was a children's song listing a couple of months ago, but I didn't finish mine on time ....sigh.

It went

Walking along
With a silly song
Humming in my head
The birds in the trees
Were singing with me
Singing a silly song

<Kids Chorus>
So come along
And sing a silly song
with me.

and so forth. I was thinking five to seven year old kids. It is worth while writing a bunch of them for fun and storing them for when a call comes out. Children's stories and songs are actually pretty hard to write. You need a test group of silly kids!

Hi H.J., I originally wrote this with verse #1 as an "Intro/Chorus" that would repeat after every verse but I'm not sure if I want to record it that way. I don't mind writing in (repeat chorus) on the lyric sheet but it might get a little annoying and rather long on the demo. There's actually an elementary school near my house I was thinking of running it by the music director. Imagine a stage full of five year olds dressed in honey bee costumes. :P hehe

The only word that looks "big" to me is "resolve". Thanks for the input, I'll keep an eye out for another children listing.

I have some grandchildren in the 3-5 year old range. Counting to twenty is a BIG thing, adding up some coins to make a dollar is still beyond them. "million" is way big.

Then again I had one of the four year olds on my lap and she was able to read the ingredients off the back of my Dr. Pepper can, with proper pronunciation. Most adults can't do that.

Children love to play, and sing and dance, so try your songs out on them.....have some fun.
