ASCAP VS BMI when it comes to production library payouts?

Post by Randall J » Wed May 05, 2010 10:11 pm

Hi All,

I am a newbie to this forum and I have been reading and enjoying lots of your posts the past couple days.
I have heard mention in this forum and other net sources that there can be differences in payment amounts between ASCAP and BMI, especially in tv useage. I had heard from a couple sources that ASCAP pays much less than BMI as far as certain aspects of tv use goes. I'm just wondering if anyone has any personal real life experience involving this? I am an aspiring instrumental music guy that wants to start pitching to music libraries and I'm trying to decide which PRO to sign on with. :?:

Good question....one that I would like to know also. As long as the question is raised does anyone use Sound Exchange to collect from non-interactive digital transmissions, including satellite and Internet radio?
