Re: Books on mixing
Books on in the box mixing. Hard one. I've had better luck reading my manuals on the daw and plugins I have or visiting forums with tips on the products I have. I have old outdated books on mixing that basically cover old analogue gear or maybe adat types of earlier digital equipment. I find new things and new approaches and ways of doing things all the time in cubase. I remember when I first got cubase and the manual being so overwhelming and dry to try and sit down and read. I have even bought a couple of tip books for it to help me find other jewels I may have overlooked. I suppose books about philosophical mixing might be useful, but i can usually find tips on the web somewhere for those.
Here is a very interesting video called "audio Myths" I found recently that is very enlightening to say the least, it is an hour long, but it probably will give a ton of info that would be useful for mixing.

elser wrote:Thanks Chris, who makes that DVD? I wonder if they might have a Logic version?yammer107 wrote:There are some nice DVD tutorials out there as well, some are system specific. Example I have some of the 'Pro Tools' ones Blue Barry recomended to me..... Its nice because its like looking over a pros shoulder as they mix, and you absorb a little more than reading ..... Maybe these arent advanced enough for you I dont know.. But it was all 'mixing in the box' as you mentioned.
Chris
I think he would be refering to this one....

I've just ordered it - so it'll be a little time before I can give you an opinion. They come with much recomendation on the DUC - and the concepts relate to all DAWs apparently.

Yeah, Sunday with my family - Perfect!
And what a great thread! Thanks Elser.
Steared me to what sounds a super book.
I'm at a stalemate in my recording, so I'm hoping it will give me some pointers.
Should be here later in the week.
PLUS a personal note from the author offering help on "any questions"
Doesn't know what he's in for!

Thanks Stav!

I put the kettle on, it didn't suit me.
