Re: Play 2
WOOOW!!
What an update!!
I installed it today on my mac pro. I loaded an orchestra song using many east west channels (platinum, RA and Goliath), almost NO CPU usage!! I love these updates!
I'm using Logic studio 8

Re: Play 2
Hey Steve and Bryan,
I'm a Sonar user with WIndows 7 64 bit os. I upgraded to play2 with no problems. I messed around with it quite extensively and so far so good.
Steve: As to the question about being able to go back to previous version I'm not sure about that one. But so far I've not wanted too....hope it stays that way...

It's only been out for a couple of days and Doug Rogers is already talking about the next update (2.0.9) coming soon. I might just sit back and wait until the dust clears.
One thing I read is that once you save your DAW session using the new Play 2 then that session would not be able to load a previous version of Play should you decide to revert back. Not sure how true this is, so if anybody can verify this it would be helpful.

Hmmm, way to go Mr. Buzzkill. Now I'm scared again. Maybe I should at least wait until I'm not under a few deadlines to get bold.![]()
On a positive note, it "seems" like this version of Play can stream a bit more efficiently than the one I upgraded from. I guess that's a start.

Re: Play 2
Thanks Derek. Glad to hear it's working well for you. I'm still on 32-bit Windows XP but I hope there are no issues. I have a couple more weeks of stemming to do so I think I'll wait until then. It would be a real drag to run into issues of not being able to function normally before I complete my project.llama wrote:Hey Steve and Bryan,

Re: Play 2
I am having trouble with this update. Windows 7-64 bit. Tried it three times. After what seems to be a successful installation, I see that the Orchestra Gold icon is gone from my desktop and sonar can not find the EW VST's. Strange thing is that I also have Golaith and that appears to update as a stand alone player, but wont work in sonar.
The good news "System Restore" brings it all back to the previous version.

Dumb question, Jen, but you installed the 64-bit version and not the 32-bit one, right?jfraizer wrote:I am having trouble with this update. Windows 7-64 bit. Tried it three times. Yup, 64 bit version. Thanks for the thought Steve. I had high hopes when I saw that Derek was successful, but not so much for me.

Re: Play 2
Just a thought. Have you tried using the Cakewalk plug-in manager? I always use that when installing plug-ins so Sonar can find them. Maybe give that a shot? Might be all that's needed, but I can't say for certain. Good luck!

PS -- I also check to make sure the plug-in's .dll is located in the plug-in folder. You can always copy & paste the executable file from the "Program Files" folder to your desktop, if that's where your icons are located (or wherever you may have them located). I keep all of my VI icons in a separate folder on my desktop; they're just shortcuts from the original located in "Prog Files" folder. HTH.

Ahh yes, the play64.dill file. I had to paste the new one in the plug in folder. The old one was still there. Now I am good to go. Thanks ibanez468.

Re: Play 2
Steve. Yea, absolutely I'd be cautious too. In my case I recently purchased a new machine and all the tracks needing stemming, bumpering and stingering etc.
are on the old XP machine safe and sound. But I tell you what, I love the whole 64b environment and with play2 even more so. It seems that the CPU just ticks over even when I've loaded up big orch and choir on Play, Omnisphere and Stylus. On my old XP machine it would be coughing and wheezing but on the new machine it hardly breaks a sweat.
Jen. The ol' play64.dll in the plug in folder tripped me up when I was migrating to 64bit. Dunno what it is with that...but I didn't use the Sonar plug in manager, thanks for the heads up Ibanez. I'll try it next time.

Re: Play 2
Yeah, for whatever reason Sonars plug in manager could not find Play when I first installed the previous version a couple of months ago either. Then I found a video on youtube that told me about putting the play64.dill file in the plug in folder. I had forgotton all about that untill ibanez mentioned it. Wonder if it is a window 7-64 thing or if I just didn't do something right. You wouldn't think you would have to physically put the dill file somewhere.
