Ambiguous Return

Post by BenEvolence » Sun May 09, 2010 11:39 pm

I recently received a return that really confused me. It was on target for the listing. Here are the reviewers comments:

"hello. thanks for sending in the music. the groove and vibe works- nice job. the mix needs a tweak and the length is too long (easy fix) but the concept is sound. hope you have more where this came from. good luck!"

Sounds like it could go either way at this point but then this:
The main reason(s) you were or were not forwarded for this listing is:
Good Vibe

LOL ! anybody ever been returned because the song had a good vibe?

Ironically the same reviewer forwarded the same song to another listing about a month ago !!???!!

So I am not sure why this was returned or even if the reviewer meant to forward it but checked the wrong box? Anyone know if Taxi has customer support number where I might gain some clarification?

Thanks

I would call or send them an e-mail and ask about it. I've seen it discussed here about a screener accidentally ticking the wrong box. The phone number is listed on the website as are several e-mail addresses depending on your question. I believe there's a "contact TAXI" link that's easy to find. They are known for their excellent customer service, BTW.

But at the same time, yes, it's possible that the screener likes the vibe of your song but really can't forward it because it doesn't fit the listing. And the same screener could very well forward the same song for one listing and return it for another because they are bound by the listing, no matter how much they may personally like the song.

In the TAXI game, and also in the larger business game out there, it's all about giving the customer what they want, and submitting for TAXI listings is a great way to learn how to do it, and also a good education in dealing with being close, but not close enough. It happens every day. The thing to remember is someone's got to get the gig and eventually if you learn to play the game, it could very well be you!

No matter what, if you love it and can't imagine doing anything else, you'll keep doing it anyway, right? ;) 8-)

I had a very similar return on a Dispatch Listing looking for Sci Fi instrumentals a few weeks back. Under reasons not forwarded he only checked music and then in the comments section he wrote "Like the vibe of this track". I wondered at the time if it was maybe a mistake but I did not follow up on it. I just assumed he liked the piece but figured it was not right for the listing. Listener ID was #253. Please let us know what you find out if you make a call to Taxi. For me I figure it would be too late anyway since it was a Dispatch Listing and I submitted over a month ago.
