V:
Congrats on your wedding!
Matto: Are you into law enforcemment by any chance?
I actually attended a wedding years ago, where the musician was a pianist. He played the prelude. Then, he went up to the altar, while the bride walked down the aisle. The preacher said a few words, and then he went and played another song on the piano. As she stood all alone in front of the altar. He returned, they said their vows. I was actually susprised he he didn't play the recessional as she exitted the church. (true story). I still remember the ten foot taffeta heart with blinking pink lights, which had been placed over the altar. You really had to be there.
In this case, V, whether you're already married or not (I'll let Matto check this out), the "serious" stuff is in the church. Once you get to the reception, anything goes, you're celebrating. If your guy doesn't want to hear you singing a song to him at the reception -- and you really want to -- call it of right now, you're doomed.
Just one person's opinion, of course.

Vickye,
I have to know, did you do it? How did it turn out? Did the crazy uncle show up? You have to end the suspense and report!
