I'm sure most of you don't know that Donny sang with The Lettermen for many years, when are we going to hear a vocal piece from you, Donny? All the best, enjoyed it very much as always...eo.
Hey EO, how are you? Thanks for the plug. Funny you should ask that question. In November-December I will be touring Maui with "Brown Chicken Brown Cow String Band". I will also record their next CD with them. Just have to clean the cobwebs from my voice. My last concert with "The Lettermen" was in December 1981. I have been singing lately at some local spots here in the jungle and was surprised at how well it is being accepted. Ants, that's good lol

Thanks for the great comment Ott, You know how it is as a writer of song. It feels good when someone hears and likes your music. It inspires you to write more :-)

I agree with fret17. I like the imagery, and "Final freedom" seems to fit both that imagery and the song.

In terms of the song, I really like it - the flow, the direction, the buildup. Personally, I think a classical guitar playing the lead melody and real drums would boost it
immensely. But don't change the song. It's great.

So far Rob I am in full agreement. "Final Freedom" is a great title. Instrumental orchestration works best with a visual stimulus to give some direction to the moods generated by the music. Without that, all we have is the title to start us into the song. The word freedom sparks something deep in everyone and I think that it fits with what I have written. I'm so glad that you liked it.

I feel honored to be sharing a thread with one of the voices of The Lettermen. "I Only Have Eyes for You" was one of my favorite songs right after my high school days.
Thank you Wayne, my oldest brother Jim was singing on that track and all of the hits of the 60s. I took his place after he experienced some vocal problems. I returned home from Viet Nam in March of 1970 and started recording with the group in April. My first concert as one of the Lettermen was February 4th 1974 in Hong Kong on our far East tour. My last concert was December 1981. Around 2500 concerts and including compilation albums 39 recorded (mostly at Capital records). Inducted into "The Vocal Group Hall Of Fame" in 2001, My voice is in a time caps el on the moon lol. An astronaut took a recording of the song "Love" (written by John Lennon) recorded by The lettermen and a hit in 1970 at the time. He left it on the moon, is that cool or what. Thanks for taking time to post and it's my honer to share a thread with you Wayne.

Holy S***,
I just pulled out 5 Capital LP’s from my vinyl collection.
“A Song For Young Love”, “Once Upon A Time”, “College Standards”, “The Lettermen in Concert” and even a Christmas album, “For Christmas This Year”
I got my puberic start with your music. My favorites, "When I Fall In Love" and "Once Upon A Time".
It certainly is an honor. :)

Ciao, Dan
Yes Dan, The Lettermen records were always the last records on the stack at a party. lol It was great singing in a group that people came to listen to your music and love and harmony is not a bad thing to be associated with. Thanks for listening to my new stuff and the honer is all mine.

Hey Donny, Nice to meet you, and an honor! I was born in '61, the baby of 7 children, so I grew up on The Letterman music.
My brothers were always playing it, and my sisters were into Bette Midler, so I like her stuff too.
Your song is cool, I like it a lot. It has a sweet intensity about it, and I see it as a "flying without instruments" kinda thing. So how about "Seat of the Pants", or "Ground Game" maybe. IDK, just throwing them out there.
Dig the pictures on your site too, you fit the surroundings well over there.
All the best and Welcome to the boards!
Steve

Hey Donny

Liked the piece very much. I pictured someone white water rafting.
"White Water" would be my suggestion.

Thanks for the ideas Steve and Jan, it's great to see the different things that people envision while listening to it.
