I think this is very relevant right now

Given the recent discussions about screener's reviewing their own, etc., I thought I'd share this, which in a way is a taxi success.Years back I submitted to a listing whereby the library person was screening her own. The track got returned and I forgot all about it. Many months later our paths crossed for another reason and I got the OK to send in a CD. At the time I still didn't even know she was the one who screened that taxi listing. I got an email back that she remembered one track from a taxi submission! It wasn't a fit for what she had listed for at that time, but she liked it. Now she had a major opp-- music for TV promotions of a new cable network and my track was a great pitch. My track was definitely in the hands of the right people. I was involved enough to know that was absolutely true. The deal was worth thousands of dollars. As things go in this industry, through no fault of hers, the deal fell through. However, I now had a relationship for the future. Some may not see that as a success. But having a track almost picked for a major opportunity is a huge step. People who do this a lot will tell you that deals fall through all the time. It it weren't for taxi, I wouldn't have gotten THAT far.So, when a library owner screens their own... you never know. Casey

Casey,Thanks for sharing , great story ...So many people just don't get that the whole submitting process, forwards, contacts, leads, relationships, are so "Sales" oriented. I know " Artists" think Sales or Selling is a dirty word. But if you look at the success stories here at TAXI, those that are successful work every angle, follow up, and work the relationships, and build those relationships. That's what us sales people do every day. Again thanks for sharing....Bob
