WHOA! So this is what it feels like!
Hey all, had to share I got my first forward - 3 songs for the below listing. I have had several returns before this and just when i forgot I had any more submissions hanging out there, this showed up! I am really excited, and hope to hear from the label soon. Here's a question about TAXI protocol...I was told who the label was, and really want to contact them - but would like a little advice from those with more experience first...is it "stepping on A&R toes" to contact the label? I am typically an aggressive self promoter and don't like sitting around waiting for the phone to ring, so it feels weird not going after them. Any help is greatly appreciated! Also, the songs forwarded were 'hello' "walkin' that way" and "roll the dice"
whole songs are at http://www.taxi.com/joee or you can rip through samples at http://www.joeellismusic.com

CHRISTIAN ROCK SONGS and BANDS in the wide range of Switchfoot, Creed, Live, Jars of Clay, Relient K, etc., needed by an Indie Label with major distribution. They would prefer receiving submissions from established artists/bands that are sitting on finished CDs and are in need of distribution, but will also accept songs for possible placement opportunities. A fresh approach to your lyric themes, strong memorable hooks and melodies with current radio hit song appeal are necessary. Nothing too overtly Christian please. Male or female vocals are okay. Broadcast quality needed. This listing was recently run as Dispatch #D100219CR, so if you submitted to that listing, please send in new songs this time around. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics (and photo/bio if applicable). All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Tuesday, May 11, 2010. TAXI #S100511CC

Congrats! Don't contact the company, you have to wait until they decide to contact you.

I hope this is one of many forwards. In terms of contact, you have contacted them through Taxi... you've sent them your music. They have your music... specifically the music they requested. They know who you are and have all your contact information. If they haven't contacted you it's because (a) they haven't listened to it yet or (b) they did but passed on it. I heard a guy at the Taxi Rally say (and I believe him)... "If we want your music, believe me, you won't be able to get rid of us". They're not shy... if your song is one of their tickets to success you'll definitely hear from them. There's no sales pitch you can use to turn them into a "buyer" in the meantime.
Good luck with that and other forwards

Also remember that you just got the forward and it will take some time for them to listen to what was forwarded. If you were to call them tomorrow, they'd say "who?".
These companies probably also don't work exclusively with TAXI so they probably have lots of music to go through, which could take some time as well. Right now, you're one of many writers that they have solicited music from (you, of course, via TAXI).
It's also possible that they've already found what they need, in which case they're off to the next project.
There's so many possibilities that it's hard to say what's going on. But if they like your music and it fits what they are looking for, you'll hear from them eventually.
In the meantime, throw another hook into the water and if you don't get a bite with this one, at least you're still out there fishing.
Congratulations on the forward! Don't blow it by being too anxious. Just move on go write and record another forwardable song. They may want to know what else you have anyway, it's good to keep producing, they like prolific folks.

Hey Joe,
First off, welcome to the forums and congrats on the forward! That's a great feeling isn't it!
In regards to your question about contacting the company, you can't go wrong by listening to the advice of Dave and Mazz and this case is no different. If the company is interested in your songs, they will definitely get a hold of you. In the meantime, try and focus your energy and excitement on writing some new material so if/when the company does contact you, you'll have a couple more tracks that you can send their way
