In "The Real Frank Zappa Book", Frank wrote about an archetypal 13-year-old girl named Debbie whose musical and cultural tastes came to determine what music is promoted in this country. Here's a short quote from it:
"She was immediately chosen to become the Archetypical Imaginary Pop
Music Consumer & Ultimate Arbiter of Musical Taste for the Entire
Nation -- from that moment on, everything musical in this country would
have to be modified to conform to what they computed to be her needs
and desires."
Fortunately, there now are many ways to explore and discover infinite varieties of music falling outside the mainstream corporate-dominated arena.

Re: A credible opinion
And 'tween pop' still has the biggest market share.....music made for anyone else is still a niche market.
