Recommended Demo Studio?

Post by evanmcgill » Thu Jul 15, 2010 10:53 am

Howdy all,

Flight and hotel are booked for MY FIRST EVER Ralley, so Mazz said I should bring some material! With that said, I want to use a professional studio to do my master quality demo or 2. I've only found 2 that jonathanm recommended and that was Studio Pros and Nashville Studio Demo. Any others that I am not aware of? How are the reputations? Thanks!

-Evan

Ocean Way? Ok maybe I'm dreaming, yes I am, but if I was looking for a studio, I'd at least have to inquire. I'd sell my soul to the devil to do just one demo there, devil are you listening?LOL!

Personally, I have a bunch I would recommend:

Jason Roller at MagicSchack who makes killer work with Nashville a-team players! http://www.magicshackdemos.com/

Jay's Place http://www.jaysplacerecording.com/ , edgy and soulful country stuff!

Gary Earl at http://www.garyearl.com/, grammy nominated producer, great in all genres!

Scott Gerow at http://www.reddragonpro.com/ , really cool contemporary production!

Marc Blackwell at http://www.marcblackwellmusic.com/site/demoservice/ , posts a lot in the peer to peer forum here, awesome producer!

All capable of doing killer stuff for you, if you've got the song ;)

Maybe... :0

No, I need a "musician" picture! In my real job I'm US Manager of Training for a medical device company, so that is the only professional shot I have. Like I said, I need to call a photographer and step up my game!!

Hey Evan,

Someone posted a demo awhile ago from another Nashville studio that REALLY impressed me --- AND, it was only about $500/song. I'll see if I can find the link.

I ran a demo studio in L.A. as producer/musician/engineer for many years, but the "Nashville Sound" was not my forte', so I always passed on those projects. My suggestion is find a studio that really nails the style you're doing. If they say they can do "any style," they aren't telling you the truth. I've done "most styles," but country and rap/hip hop I've always been honest about --- "Find someone else!" I didn't want to b.s. a songwriter just to make a buck. Find a studio that is honest about their specialty. No one can do every genre convincingly.

Just IMHO,

Ern 8-) :)

Great advice! Was this the one you knew of? They seem to do some solid work!

Nope, but I found the one I was thinking of: http://www.awritersparadise.com. Top vocalists for $75! Shows how much competition there is down there! I'll check them out again, but the demo I heard was awesome.

Best Regards,

Here's the country/rock demo I heard written by Steven:

"This is a up-tempo country tune.

Thanks in advance.
