SLOWER, SPOOKY SLIDE GUITAR

Post by stevebarden » Thu Jul 30, 2009 5:13 pm

Boy, the dispatch listings have been good for me lately. I don't get the opportunity very much to play Dobro so this was fun!Paranormal Dobrohttp://www.reverbnation.com/tunepak/1684536SLOWER, SPOOKY INSTRUMENTAL TRACKS THAT FEATURE SLIDE GUITAR a la Explosions in the Sky, are needed immediately by the Producer of a TV series that chronicles paranormal mysteries on a well-known, real-life Drama Cable station. He said to also think of the Paris, Texas soundtrack for inspiration. Instrumentals only.Steve

Nice slidin'! I for one like hearing the reality of all the scraping of the slide on the strings with the vibrato, and love the sound of the dobro rather than guitar. Good luck with it!

Wonderful piece, Steve. The dobro sound is great and the background is very rich and varied. I'm curious what you used to create the background.Good luck with this one!Richard

Yeah, that scratchy sound is hard to eliminate on those round-wound strings. The fatter the string the more it makes noise. That is, of course, if you're applying vibrato to the note. But yeah, I agree that it gives it that authentic Dobro sound. Beside, Ry Cooder makes a lot of noise in his playing, too!Steve

The string-like pad is a combination of some old (sampled) Emu Proteus sounds All of the spooky stuff comes from the Heavyocity Evolve library. It has some pretty awesome sounds!Steve

YES!! I'm going to get a Dobro, like today. The recording sounds fantastic. I love the electronic drones, the two sounds perfectly compliment each other. Great playing. This sounds exactly what they are looking.Ry Cooder, eat your heart out!B
