Yes, I agree. I know a number of people who are still using a single core MacPro and getting a lot of work done. I am using my MacBook Pro right now and just starting to get into usage issues. And, when I get LASS and Symphobia, I really want the horse power to do it.
I think the iMac is a tremendous bargain and one heck of a computer. But before you spring for it, take a look at a used MP and see what is out there. And like Mo said, if you can wait a couple of weeks, when the new one ship and are in the hands of others, there may be some real deals to be had. I would also check the "clearance" and "refrub" section at the Apple store. My last MBP was a refurbished, came with original warranty and worked like a champ.
