Pro Tools Hung up

Post by yammer107 » Sat Jul 31, 2010 4:39 pm

Hello,

I'm getting a rather standard windows error message - informing me 'Only one copy of Pro Tools can be ran at a time' .......
Problem is I can't seem to shake it. Typically you realize you've already opened said program, or simply restart your computer and your good to go. Even checking task master confirms another version is NOT running.

What else can I do to implement a 'hard shut down' of sorts to resolve the conflict? Naturally I'm knee deep in a project this weekend thats come to a halt...

Thanks

~ Chris

Hey Chris,

I have had that problem before myself. Open up your Task Manager and go to the Processes tab. See if you can find ProToosLE.exe in the Image Name column. I'm using Pro Tools LE so it might be slightly different if you're on M-Powered, but I would imagine the file name would still start with ProTools. Select that file and then click the "End Process" button. You should now be able to restart Pro Tools without having to reboot.

Thanks Barry ... Did that once before I posted, three times now.

Odd .... figured after I'd shut down several times... went out for few beers..... things would snap back but still same issue.. wont let go. I may need to reinstall.... Been running smooth since first installation about 3 years ago.... So I've been lucky

Mac 'n Cheese just not on my menu Eeo... much as I'd like

Sounds like you may need to uninstall, then look at add/remove programs to see if it's "still there", heh. I managed to inadvertently install my wireless bug three times, and had to uninstall it twice.

Yeah.. Thanks Mojo.. Guess I'm just avoiding the inevitable. Don't feel like spending my Sunday babysitting the process; Oh .... I did finaly get a "protools.exe on C drive is corrupt' notice.... So something happened beyond a quick fix I was hoping for
