Greetings and need some help
Hi, my name is Tom. I compose melodic and down tempo piano and orchestra sound. Someone mentioned to me that this service really prefers commercial music? I am not 100% sure what that exactly stands for. Frankly I am not sure how it works. I produce music, I have no time for business aspect of it. I don't think my music is "money" music exactly since this isn't everyone's style and it isn't main stream but someone recommend to me an attempt at pushing my music out because they said my music can fit emotional scenes very well. In that case you never know who maybe looking for something along those lines. I provided a link below to my youtube channel and hopefully some of you can let me know what you think of my talent and if I could fit here or not. Thank you in advance - Tom

I'd say there's definitely a market for this. You might need to upgrade your string/orchestral sounds a bit, but the compositions are excellent. Why not sign up to get Taxi's listings, so you can see how often your sort of music is requested?

I'm listening to Allure right now... very nice.
The music requests that comes through Taxi are just whatever music the listing companies need, the companies that use Taxi to find music for them. Here's the current listings...
http://www.taxi.com/industry.php
As you'll see it's everything from Alternative to World Music, music for artists, music for tv shows, music for commercials, etc. Definitely take some time to look at the listings to see (a) if music you have currently fits any of the listings and/or (b) if there are listings that you know you could write music for and go at it that way.
In the meantime, hang around the forum when you can and read, participate and generally just get to know everyone. You'll read discussions about listings and will probably hear music submitted by various forum members for those listings. Sometimes in advance for opinions and sometimes after the results come out (music forwarded, music returned).
Good luck!

Thank you for the replies
Maybe I'll sign up and see if there are listing for my music soon. Any ideas on how hard they may hit the quality of my music and what you guys think? I'm not exactly amateur in my set up however some places can be extremely picky. I don't exactly record my piano in the studio. I use a piano at home or electric piano to record. Thanks.

If you decide to try to get your music out there and join taxi and submit, then with your first submission you've already joined "the business aspect". If you get forwarded and contacted with a deal contract, you'll be nose to nose with "the business". At that point you'll have to decide if you want to make time for it. Maybe it's better to start to think about that now, because taxi is not going to do "the business" for you, they will only send your music on if it is right for what the client wants, the business part is up to you. Or not.
Good luck in your decision.

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Mojo (my friend):
you're incorrect. you don't have to sign up to TAXI to peruse the listings. You only have to sign up to submit to them. Also, I'll emphasize that you do not have to be a TAXI member to submit music on the forums and get feedback. In this case, peer to peer.
Someone, please tell me if I'm incorrect on this.

By 'sign up', I meant have the listings sent to you via email; this does not require a Taxi subscription and is free of charge. Listings come twice a month with the Taxi newsletter. Sorry for any confusion.
