The reason buyouts are so expensive is because it's forever and you give up pretty much all rights except back end royalties on radio and TV performance. (might be a little different in the EU) My rock-bottom minimum for a buyout is $500, and that's in the very unlikely case that the entire write/record/submit/approve cycle took less than an hour AND I didn't need to hire any outside help.orest wrote:
Another question about buyout. Are there any time limits?
Or do I compose it and they can use it forever?

I'd figure $2,000 to $3,000 if they're buying the rights - but find out what their budget is and be willing to be paid less if it's a project you want to do.
And if it's a project you LOVE, go with what feels right to you.
