Licensing Companies: how many is too many?

Post by wild-wood » Tue Sep 14, 2010 9:57 am

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the community, and have enjoyed absorbing the combined knowledge (and generosity) of the members in these forums. I have a question of my own that I'm hoping someone might shed some light on.

I've signed agreements with several online music libraries over the past few years. Almost all were through opportunities posted on Sonicbids. Many of these libraries (which I will not name here) are doing the "alternate title" thing with my songs. I guess I was naive and didn't really think twice about signing up with anyone who showed interest in my music. I figured the more companies displaying/pitching my music the better, right?

Well, recently I was told that having my songs registered with too many music libraries and/or licensing companies can be detrimental; that it cheapens the songs if everyone is pitching them. Any opinions?
