Country song pitch

Post by jmather » Wed Aug 25, 2010 2:59 pm

Hey everyone!

I just submitted a new song "Lucky Man" to this Country listing:

Great CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY SONGS with a Neo-Traditional influence a la Chris Young, Kenny Chesney, and Jason Aldean are wanted by the Director of A&R at a Major Nashville Label for a young Male Artist. This "Nashville Star" alum is working on his 2nd major label release. Think along the lines of "Drinkin' Me Lonely" (Chris Young).

I recorded this over the last few days with my buddy Carlos, who pulled off a pretty decent pedal steel sound, and at times violinish sound with his strat! I took Mojo's and a few others' advice and did a full band demo as opposed to stripped down acoustic/voice.

Anyway you can listen on my profile page: http://www.taxi.com/justinmather

Anyone else submit to this one? If so post em up, I'd like to hear!

Justin

Justin! I love this! Got the old Wilco sound...I'm not familiar with those other artists but I'm sure you'll have success with this one in one way or another.

Nice vibe, would fit perfectly on a John Hiatt album.

Thanks Jeff and Glender!! A forward sure would be nice, but really I'm just happy to get a good song and recording out of this listing, even if that's all that happens :)

Dude, this is fantastic! Great job, sounds a bit like John Prine to me, your voice sounds really great!
Best of luck!

Thanks Marc! I have been listening to John Prine quite a bit lately, and performing some of his songs...

Well, unfortunately this one got returned. This got mostly 8s and 9s - the lyrics were the weakest point with a 7. Overall I'm pretty happy with the critique. It seems like the screener took a good amount of time to specifically address many places where the lyrics could be tightened up and offered helpful suggestions.

Thanks to everyone who listened!

Oooh, you are a lucky man! Lucky that song ain't forwarded, yet, cuz I think I might know jes' what it needs....for starters it's Americana, not country, heh. PM me the lyrics, if you'd like to tinker with it.
