Rally Deals

Post by dynamicalan » Fri Sep 03, 2010 7:53 am

Hello,

the Road Rally has a deal for the hotel rooms as part of the registration process. I think the airlines should be added as part of the process. I noticed that all this is cheaper when you book both together.

Right now Southwest Airlines has incredibly cheap rates to LA from almost everywhere in the country. Until 9 / 27.
I booked round trip for under $200 including luggage and all taxes.

I'm looking for airline deals for 2013. If anyone hears of anything now I would like to know if you can post it up. I'm flying from Atlanta.

We used to work with Southwest and American to get deals for our members, but the discounts topped out at 5%, and the restrictions were so numerous, that most members didn't use them.

The airlines aren't that motivated to do much work for what probably amounts to a couple dozen bookings. Remember, somebody who lives near Atlanta would probably fly Delta because it's based there, Somebody from Seattle would probably fly Alaska Airlines, somebody from Chicago would fly American, and so forth. There are so many different needs for our members, that the number of flyers on each airline probably doesn't add up to much. If we were the NAB show with 20 or 30, 0000 people coming, maybe they'd give better discounts ;-)

Michael,

I thought about it after the fact and I realized that work and personal obligations are more of the deterrent for attendance than actually money. It may be much more difficult for members on the east coast than those traveling from the midwest. It was just an idea but all ideas aren't good ones. I know it will be a great Rally this year but I won't be able to attend. My guest cancelled because he's got a band coming into the studio for a month. But, were planning for the one next year.

As far as I know Southwest is flying from Atlanta even though there not based there. You can't beat the prices if you don't mind going one day early.

I hope no one was coming in today. I heard on the news there was a real problem at LAX. If so I hope no one was hurt.

Thanks for taking the time to post here.
