Certainly someone else is getting payments from them on their PRO statement.

Never heard of them. What PRO do you belong to?
Evocative Music For Media

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

I'm with BMI and this is on my statement. Not sure what it is or how anything is calculated. I can't buy a Maserati with it that's for sure!

As I understand it, in addition to collecting licensing revenue from cable channels, BMI also collects annual blanket license fees from the local cable companies carrying those channels. Those blanket license fees are distributed to the composers on a pro rata basis, in other words the more your music played on cable during a given year, the more money will be allocated to you.

This used to be distributed in a special distribution but it now seems it's been integrated into the regular fall distribution.

If you have a lot of music on cable tv the local cable distribution can add up to several thousand dollars per year which is pretty nice for most people not in the market for Maseratis... :P
