Is there any market for foreign songs ?
Hello there people at Taxi ! I'm a brazilian songwriter and most of my songs are written in Portuguese. Before join this wonderful group of creative people I'd like to ask if there is a demand for Brazilian music in your listings ? Thanks !!!

Re: Is there any market for foreign songs ?
A thousand times, YES! One of my favorite records is a Brasilian deal, sung in in Portugues, accent over the "E". It's called Bossacucanova. The TV and film market is much friendlier to foreign sounds than the pop market. In my country, we say, "Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door"......maybe not literally, heh. With foreign music, the mousetrap doesn't even need to always be better.

Re: Is there any market for foreign songs ?
Hi,
One thing for sure to do is to scout the listings for a little while to see if the kind of music you do comes up enough for you. There are a lot of opportunities in general for foreign language music in film/tv but as far as how many of those are listed in the Taxi listings over, say, a years time... I don't know.
One thing I've found through the Taxi experience is that I now do other types of music as a response to the listings... I've expanded the variety of styles that I do because of the listings. So... your strength (right now) may be in a certain style of music and of course you want to look at the listings over a period of time (maybe a month or two) to see how often that style of music comes up. But, I think its also helpful to look at the listings and think about other styles that you might do. That would certainly make your membership more valuable if you had several types of listings for which you could write and submit music.
Welcome to the forum and good luck!
Dave

Thanks Dave! I see your point. There is a learning process gain, just by trying to expand into different styles of composition, other than your own. Thanks for the tip !
