First time ever!!

Post by mazz » Thu Oct 28, 2010 9:55 pm

I'm not leaving for the Rally until Wednesday, but due to my work schedule and some other things that have come up between now and then, I actually am 98% packed for the Rally! First time ever I'm ready 5 days ahead of schedule!! My laptop and my toiletries are the only thing left. I'm using both between now and the time I leave!

Since I created pre-printed blank CDs and covers, I just had to pick out my playlist, put it in my laptop iTunes library (backed up on USB stick, of course!), print out several transparent mailing labels with the playlist on it for the back of the cover, and I'm done! I'll burn CDs and apply labels if needed at the Rally on my laptop!!

What a relief!!

Now I have to continue to tear down my studio because I'm moving it out of the house immediately after the Rally! Yikes!! :o :o

See you soon!

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Tearing down and moving your studio? That is a big yikes! Good luck, where ya moving it to? Sounds like you were procrastinating about tearing down your studio by preparing for the Rally. See you there...

I've rented a small room at a rehearsal studio in South SF. We've been toying with that idea anyway and having the extra room will tell us if we want to move and get a different house with a garage for a studio (and driveway for parking, a rare commodity in SF!!) or not. It's a huge endeavor to move the studio and I'm keeping it going until the last minute in case I have to write something, like I did yesterday!! LOL!! I'm pulling wires out as I can without disturbing my bare bones set up. Looking forward to it, actually. I've ordered acoustic treatments, I'm going to set up my monitoring and metering according to the K-system, and hopefully I'll be able to set up most of my keyboards. I've got a vintage OB8, a Wavestation, a Wurlitzer 200 piano, a V-synth and a Korg Prophecy and a couple of small cheesy electronic keyboards, one of which was circuit bent. Once I get set up, I'll post some pics. It'll take me a little while, my first priority is to get up and running because I have a bunch of stuff to finish for Mr. Cat Herder, and then I'll start working on getting it the way I want it.

Blah Blah Blah!!

See you at the Rally!

Hey Mazz,
I'm actually in a similar situation...
Up until now I've been doing my recording/work from home, but just got a hold of a tiny commercial space last week. I'll be moving my studio into there... it'll be great to have enough space to work in, my JD-800 hasn't been wired up in ages! The place itself needs a ton of work, and then setting everything up in there, including possibly building a vocal booth, will definitely take a while. Looking forward to the end result, though...
Good luck with your setup!
Cheers,
Roland
