NEW LISTING -- CONTEMPORARY SINGER-SONGWRITER-type SONGS about "SMILE/SMILING" needed by a successful Music Publisher based in L.A. who's gotten tons of great Film/TV placements for many TAXI members. Open to all tempos. Male or Female vocals are okay. No instrumentals please! Universal lyrics are necessary. Vocal and instrumental presentations must be top-notch! Recordings need to be Broadcast Quality (great home recordings should be fine). They offer a non-exclusive, 50/50 split deal - you keep your original copyrights. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Friday, December 17, 2010.

My question is about this listing above. It was a prior listing some months back. It would be a big help if the listing mentioned that and mentioned that the listing party wanted to hear more. If I am wrong then I stand corrected. It would also help those of us who may have submitted to this listing to know for sure that this was a prior listing and it would help to know what may have been lacking in the first round of submissions that caused this to be listed again. This would be a win win situation for all involved. Thought?
Also this one below is confusing. It asks for throaty female vocals yet asks for one to three instrumentals to be submitted. Is this an oversight?
NEW LISTING -- THOUGHTFUL, CONTEMPORARY, HEARTFELT, ACOUSTIC INDIE POP or SINGER SONGWRITER BALLADS with DISTINCTIVELY THROATY FEMALE VOCALS a la Adele ("Make Me Feel My Love"), Holly Palmer ("Bad for You") and Duffy ("Syrup and Honey") for a long-running, emotionally-charged soap opera. Your INTIMATE, STRAIGHT-FORWARD song must help set the tone for various emotional scenes ranging from melancholy to sultry to joyous. Keep lyrics current and fresh, uncomplicated and heartwarming. Vocals should be nuanced with genuine emotion and must demonstrate strength, control and be on pitch. Melodies should flow smoothly and be instantly catchy and accessible beginning with the first note. KEEP YOUR STYLE MODERN with inventive arrangements and an engaging sincerity. Simple recordings are OK so long as they are clean and well produced. Broadcast quality needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). TAXI is targeting this show with a mini-catalogue of the best and most appropriate songs. Please submit one to three instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Wednesday, November 17, 2010.

Also I have noticed a fair amount of listings that have come up recently regarding very short deadlines. It would seem that these would qualify for Dispatch listings. I understand the nature of the beast so to speak. It is in TAXI's best interest to open up the submission pool to more members. Having said that I am wondering the thought process that goes into deciding when a short deadline qualifies as a Dispatch listing and when it does not. Also I want to say I am a very satisfied TAXI member and I would recommend this membership to anyone who wishes to take the next step in song writing. I am in my second year and I really feel like a sophomore at song writing college. I have learned so much so far and look forward to becoming a better song writer and sound engineer as time goes on through my membership here at TAXI

If someone wanted a song about smiling they should just purchase the rites to that Uncle Cracker song "Smile" I think that one pretty much covers it.

Hi Renips - in response to this question:
It definitely looks like an oversight to me. The fact that it is not listed in the Instrumental section is one clue, and the other clue is that there is much detail about the lyric needs and vocal needs for the listing. To me it is definitely a listing where they DO want vocals and they just forgot to delete the sentence about instrumentals from a template they use, or something to that effect.renips wrote:
