Re: That's like just your, like, opinion, man....
Damien,
I Loved the song, well done. As the song sits i love it.
having asked from my 0.02, IMHO, i would have liked to hear a bridge, something changing with the rhythm. It would have brought a change to the ears and then opened back to the chorus. You could put it under the solo or before or after. some kind of change would lift the song a bit.
that being said, if i was in your shoes, i would probably leave it AS IS (i love it and listened to it 4 times)
move on to your next HIT.
can't wait to hear more

I really liked the tune. But, I also didn't see much of a contrast between verse and chorus. Would have been nice to have heard it go some place else. And I agree it depends on the listings. I've received 9's from one screener, then 7's from a different on the same song. Kind of baffles me, but I guess depends on the listing that you're going for. Good luck with it, I could definitely hear it being used for tv/film.

Sometimes I wonder if the screeners listens to your song coming off of a very poor one you end up with a slightly better set of ratings then if he just came off a really good song. Just stuff that crosses my mind as I try to get inside screeners heads. After all, it's only human nature to see things in a perspective of the moment... even if overall they see things a bit better than just anyone when it comes to listening to music.
I listen to music I grew up on and I love it... it sounds great, but then I listen to modern recordings next to it and the lack of dynamic range/frequency response as well as new "tricks of the trade" becomes apparent in the older mixes/masters verses the newer ones. So the old mixes quality becomes tainted when sitting next to the new ones... without the new ones the old ones are Grammy winning.

Although, there is a lot to be said for leaving headroom in a mix which is almost non existent today, for most pop genres that is. AT least Orchestral hasn't been ruined yet.

Damian I "liked" your site on FB. FB apparently got rid of the music on a personal profile so I'll have to get a music one going soon.

Yes, my songs have been "forward fodder" for others on many occassions, now! It could be Rob. I don't know, and I'm not worried about it. The instances that I was referring to gave the song 9 for lyrics and song structure and the rest 8's. Then another screener gave the song 6 for lyrics and the rest 7's. I'm guessing the big jump in lyric score is because different alas have different thematic elements. Not sure, but like I said I'm not worried about it. I've moved on. Still writing and submitting.rnrmachine wrote:Hey Greggo,greggo wrote:I really liked the tune. Hi;
Nice song, but I think you should repeat the hook after the second verse (like you do at the end), then modulate for the guitar solo ( I heard Db).
That way you are creating a bridge (instrumental) and driving the hook home. I also thought the intro was kinda long. I mention that because a screener may think the same thing and reject you for it.
The intro could be half as long and be just as cool.

Good call on modulating, Eric! Could do that, except it would be to C# minor (as opposed to Db) as we are in a sharp key (E Major) for the song. I'm just being a nit-picky-douche!
- thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.
Thanks again everyone for listening! I look forward to being more active on the boards, this is my first time here and I find it better than the submission reviews!
Also - I encourage everyone to set up a Facebook "page" for their music - you'll have access to 500 million users! I also added a FBML box to my page where if people "like" my page they get a free song. It was easy to do (a little bit of code) - if anyone needs help with it or needs the code, let me know!
Thanks again!
