Introducing myself - Darren from a Freezin' UK

Post by Karmistry » Thu Dec 09, 2010 10:35 pm

Hi folks.

I just thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself.

I'm Darren from Kent in the UK and a new forum and Taxi member.

I write under the name The Karmistry Project as I wouldn't really class myself a song writer as such.

Most of my productions are in the ambient, electronic and New Age genres, but I like to experiment with different styles, so you'll occasionally hear some smoothe jazz, rock/pop etc.

I've only started writing music again this last 2 years or so after a 16 year break. In that time I was a professional DJ, but got so fed up with the whole business of carting equipment around at stupid hours of the night.

I am totally blind so the idea that I can record all my production ideas using computers has been somewhat of a revelation to me. Previously it was a case of learning the lay out of hardware and commiting it to memory, not the easiest of tasks.

My main goals are to write music for TV/multi-media licencing etc. I'll likely be asking a lot of questions here as I'm as green as the proverbial man from Mars.

I can see that it's a thriving and friendly community here and I hope to be able to pay it forward as and when I can.

Thanks for reading.

Cheers
Darren H

Hi Darren! Welcome to the forum, my friend... Yes, you are correct about the helpful community around here; there are lots of very generous people with a great deal of knowledge who gladly share it... Best of luck as you begin your Taxi ride and again... welcome!

Hello!

Me... writing music again this last 6 years after a 20 year break. I definitely relate! This is a great place... it's where I learned to get "current" or at least where I learned enough to be able to struggle with getting current. ;)

Welcome! 8-)

Hi folks.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I'll have to get a couple of my friends over here. they too are writing again after a long break. I don't think they've quite worked out that you can start to build an income with licencing. And god they can knock out tunes at a fast rate, and they ain't slouchy tunes either.

BTW, does my sig show up after so many posts, because it isn't showing right now and all my settings appear to be correct?

Cheers
