And I'll add that watching TV shows that play the kind of music you specialize in is the way to do that. If you're a rock/metal person, watch Dog The Bounty Hunter, Overhaulin' or shows like that. Look to see who the library is when the credits roll. That's one way to find libraries where you might be a good fit. Of course it's worth repeating... be a total professional always. 8-)

@ Casey: Monkey Wards closeout sale

Dave is so right. You wanna write for TV, what better reference and sample source than guess what; TV. There are some publications that help, but they are more expensive than TAXI

Thanks alot guys for all the great advise. I saved this post as a pdf on my computer.

Okey i stop the 100 tracks goal, and start right away seeing what kind of
field or genre my music could be of service. You right, that can seem strange
to have so much. The reason why i wanted to do that, is to sometimes its
easier to show results, then potential.

This made me change the plan a bit. Now im thinking of
doing a simple website, and display 10 of my best work. Then do some
research and get in contact with a few libraries, and when according to
what kind of feedback and advise i get, i do 10 more. Grow into it.
I have started i little bit already, but i havent contacted any library yet.
Didnt feel ready for that "resume" wise. I acctuly feel more releved now.
If it goes like the plan, i be back on taxi again. Learned alot here!

Noyd, I am so glad we could all add a little to help you along. That is the core value I get from members, and the forum, and staff. We are all here to help. Whether the advice is stay the course, or change course. The caring here is incredible. It is what keeps me coming back year after year, and watching you grow as a writer and a professional is all I want to see.

This is exactly how I got into my current library. They passed on me at first, but I asked the guy for advice (was it my music or my production skills, etc.?), took his advice, worked on some new stuff, and a couple months later submitted it and got accepted this time. 8-)

I like listening to libraries to see what is going on with each of them. Cat Herder has some very interesting music on his site, from 'Garbage' by David Keen to 'Sounds Like Rain' by Debbie Hennessey. Listening to library selections also answers the question of what is "broadcast quality". Unless your composition's sound quality is as good as what is on the library's listings I wouldn't bother sending a piece in for consideration.

I have a question, (I'm very new at song writing) what exactly are libraries? I mean I know they are a collection of work done by various writers, but where and how do you find or access specific libraries in country music? Thanks... Lee in Detroit, Michigan
