Re: Mixing for an mp3
Wes, where do I choose interleave when I bounce for an mp3 file? I don't see the option when I click mp3, only when I click pcm. I'm using Logic 9.0.

Argh, I bounced at 256 and it is still the same, distorted sound. Weird. I tried changing the volume on the actual myspace page, but that doesn't affect it. The rest of the songs on the page sound fine. Here is my page if yall want to take a listen. I have the latest one up there, though I might keep fiddling and trying to put up new version... I won't leave this crappy one up for long! The song is Diving Into You (the first one I ever posted on here, but I've changed it a lot).

I just listened to the song on your Myspace and it sounds fine...no distortion.

Try refreshing your browser page? I'm not hearing your new tune as any more distorted than the others. They're maybe a little overcompressed, but otherwise fine.

No, it is definitely still distorted- you can hear the distortion more when the headphones on. Trust me it sounds a ton better than the mp3 that is not on myspace. Actually, I have an mp3 on my taxi page too, and it sounds fine on there as well.

Especially when I come into the part right before the chorus at "never though I would" it sounds like a bunch of static... the piano sounds clanky, even the bells sound a little flat, their ring isn't as clear.... I promise I'm not being a diva here
, it really sounds very different!!

And also, the other 2 pieces I have not put as much work into mixing recently, so they don't sound as good as Diving is supposed to, but they sound just like their other mp3 files elsewhere on the cpu.

I'm a diva when it comes to mp3 as wellDesireeBowen wrote:Especially when I come into the part right before the chorus at "never though I would" it sounds like a bunch of static... the piano sounds clanky, even the bells sound a little flat, their ring isn't as clear.... If it's not incredibly obvious, then it's the conversion that is making it sound crappy. It's a function of many technical things, as well as how the material was mixed and recorded. Can't listen right now, sorry.
Try the AIF route with half the track to cut down the file size to see what it sounds like.

I'm not hearing that at all; the vocal distorts a bit on the peaks, but it's not obvious, even on headphones, and still no worse than your other songs; not at all objectionable, in other words.

Well, you've taken the song down, but believe me, I'm a very critical listener and the version you had on Myspace was no different than the other songs as far as clarity.
Is sounded fine to me and I was using headphones.
