Would love your input

Post by ematzen » Sun Jan 23, 2011 5:18 pm

Hi - I'm new to Taxi, and am looking to find a venue for my already created music, and advice on music I am working on. Anyone interested in taking a listen and helping out?

I think the most commercial sound is in "Greenlight" and "Alone," however, think the others have strengths too.

All input is welcome. I'm making a point to provide others input as well, though my posts don't always seem to get "posted."

Cheers.

Hi Evan,

Just wanted to say I enjoyed listening to your music. 'Greenlight' and 'Alone' are my favorites. Also checked out your website. It's got a nice, sharp look to it. The photographs are great.
Hope to see you around the boards,

Listening to Alone. Nice track! I'm gonna go out on a limb and say those sound like real drums? I'm listening through cheap PC speakers so it's hard to tell for sure.

My only nit is that it seems as if the production is placed somewhere between Maroon 5/The Script and Green Day. The vox and overall composition feel like a mid tempo pop track, but the guitar part has that post punk abandon and angst to it. Might be interesting to make a one off of this that goes 'all in' in one or the other genre.

Cool track, thanks for posting.

Wow - Thanks so much for the kind words. I took some time to listen to your music too. You have a great, expressive, and smooth voice. Good stuff. Keep it up.

Thanks Tim - I think I'm going to be a huge fan of your website, 5 year plan, and general demeanor of your writing. We are in similar boats. I'm a professional in one industry, wanting to be a music professional. Family man, not willing to jump in head-first, but I have music to be heard. It's an interesting journey.

Keep it up.

Thanks Erich - You're right. Real drums. Not played by me though. I have a rhythm problem. You have a great point about the sound. The guitarist I was working with has a great instinct for filling in space, little ditties, and truly makes all my music much much better. But it always changes the sound, and on this song, I love the change, but still was holding on to the way I envisioned it. Hence perhaps a bit schizophrenic.

Thanks for the great comment.

Nice showcase of songs, and impressive production.

I thought "Waiting" was reminiscent of Foreigner - Lou Gramm vocal-wise.

Nice work.
Welcome and good luck!

Dave.
