Member Deals 6/1/2008 - 6/30/2008Nicholas K. (Virginia)-After many forwards through TAXI to various Independent Labels, Publishers, Libraries, Online Licensing Companies, and more, Nick received many placements such as:*A placement on the ABC Family American drama TV series called Beautiful People.*His songs placed on a Jazz compilation CD released in Europe by Sony/BMG.*A placement of his song “Uma Cobra Louca!” in the film Mini’s First Time, which now airs on HBO and other movie channels.*His Latin song “Mambolita!” was picked up by a TV producer a few days after he was forwarded through a TAXI Dispatch listing, which the producer plans to use his song in an upcoming PBS series starring Gwyneth Paltrow.Here’s what Nick had to say: “My largest sense of satisfaction comes from the fact that I know my music is being played all over the globe in many different countries.” “At this point I could not really give you an accurate accounting of how many of my tunes have been used and where and how. The ones I do know about probably safely represent less than half of what has actually been placed and used.” ‘And to think that when I first joined TAXI I actually turned down my first few offers from music libraries because of my own skepticism and ignorance.”Michael I. (Tennessee)-Michael recently notified us that he had a few of his R&B songs placed through a highly successful Music Publisher he was forwarded to through TAXI. He performed his song “Keep In Touch” in the movie Redline last Spring. Later that Fall he had his song “New Direction” placed in episode 2009 of ABC’s Lincoln Heights. And just a few weeks ago he received a call notifying him that he had his song “Irresistible” placed in an upcoming movie called American Violet starring Alfre Woodard.Jake H. (Pennsylvania)-Jake’s band recently signed a licensing deal for their Indie Pop/Rock song “Shakin’ The Ground” which was placed in the upcoming Film staring Eva Longoria Parker & Jason Biggs called Lower Learning. Jake heard back from the company two days after they were forwarded through TAXI.Dez D. (Illinois)-Dez recently had his Latin songs “Mambo Inn,” “Tu No Me Quieres,” and “I Remember Grover” placed on a Sony compilation CD being released in Europe. This was a deal with an Independent Label that Dez was forwarded to through TAXI.Jeff W. (Wisconsin)-Jeff, currently a former TAXI member, notified us that he had his song aired on Dateline NBC in 2006 after a forward through TAXI to an East Coast Music Publisher who has secured dozens of Film/TV placements for TAXI writers over the years. Here’s what Jeff had to say, “I'm trying to get things in order so I can join Taxi again. As far as I'm concerned, there is no other way to get into the music business, especially for someone with such a strange style as mine. Thanks for all of your help.”Philip W. (Texas)-“Hard work pays personal & financial gains,” which is what Philip stated when he recently notified TAXI that he had his two Rock/Metal songs “Stutter Junkie,” and “Chain Smokin” placed on episode 12 of MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge. The company that he was forwarded to by TAXI contacted him a year later to notify him of the placement.Ed H. (Washington)-After being forwarded to an established Music Publisher with dozens of Film/TV placements through TAXI, Ed had his Latin Instrumentals licensed and placed in the ABC Family TV series, Greek. Ed signed with this Publisher a month after he was forwarded through TAXI, and was only notified a few days before the airing of the show that his song was being used.Ed H. (Washington)-Ed had his Orchestral Instrumental “Greatest Generation” licensed and placed on the PBS television series Sit and Be Fit. This deal was signed 4 months after Ed was forwarded through TAXI. After Ed established a relationship with this company, he now receives regular payments from them for his songs are being used for ringtones and other licensing & commercial deals.Jeanne G. (New York)-Jeanne recently notified us that she had two of her songs placed on a Jazz compilation CD released by Universal Music Group. This was a direct result of a forward through TAXI.Kurt K. (Florida)-As a result of attending the TAXI Road Rally convention and having his song played during one of the Pitch Panels, Kurt signed four of his songs with an Independent Label/Publisher that specializes in film/TV placements. A few of his Jazz & Caribbean style songs have been signed, and he is currently working on creating more music upon their request.Here’s what Kurt had to say: “I have been a member for a little over 4 years at this point and with each year I find my skills improving, largely due to the feedback, opportunities and education I have obtained as a result of my Taxi membership.”Shawn H. (California)-The Manager/Producer of the band The Matches reported to us how he “sought out the feedback of the TAXI screening process to guide our work while continuing to record that first records, to use TAXI as a reality check for the writing and recording of the songs.” The Matches perfected their songs on their first album, which eventually lead to that extra push TAXI gave them to land a record deal.Lisa R. (Texas)-Lisa’s Neo-Soul song “Just You And Me” was recently included on a Warner Brothers compilation CD released in Poland, featuring such artists as Joss Stone, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Christina Aguilera. This was a result of a forward through TAXI to an Independent Record Label.Laura S. (California)-Laura recently notified us that she had her song “I Will Think Of You” featured on the Lifetime show Army Wives. This was a result of a forward to a leading LA-based Music Publisher through TAXI.CK B. (New Mexico)-CK’s Celtic song “My Baby Sally” and her Circus/Calliope Instrumental “Drunken Calliope” were signed by the Owner of a Music Production Library. CK heard back from the owner three months after she was forwarded through TAXI.Laura H. (New Jersey)-We were recently informed that Laura had a few of her Jazz songs placed on a two different Compilation CDs released by Universal Music Group. It took her three months for her to hear back from the company after she was forwarded through TAXI.John M. (California)-As a result of his TAXI membership, John’s Instrumental piece “Domestico” was recently used by the Music Supervisor of an Independent comedy/romance/adventure Film titled The Gold And The Beautiful.Kent M. (Michigan)-Still benefiting from his original forward through TAXI to a Music Producer of one of the most popular daily talk shows, Kent licensed 6 more songs for use in the show.Kathleen S. (Oregon)-Kathleen recently had her Medieval song “Courtly Dance” signed to an established Music Publisher based in Los Angeles. This company has many Film/TV placements and has signed several TAXI writers. This is Kathleen’s fourth contract she’s signed through TAXI.Keith A. (Washington)-Keith recently notified us that his North Indian version of “O Susanna” was signed to a LA-based Music Library/Publisher as a result of a forward through TAXI.Jarno H. (Finland)-Exploiting the existing relationship he made through a TAXI forward, Jarno’s Dance/Electronica & Business/Corporate songs were signed with the Owner of a Music Production Library/Publisher.Nigel B. (California)-Nigel recently heard back from the Owner of a Music Production Library/Publisher after he was forwarded through TAXI seven months prior. Nigel ended up signing a publishing deal for his three Electronica/Trance songs “So High,” “Nova,” and “Luna Misteri.”Chuck H. (California)-As a result of two separate forwards through TAXI, Chuck recently signed his light Orchestral piece “The Cat’s Meow” and his Hipster Lounge/Exotica song “Moulin Rouge” with a highly successful Music Publisher who has placed many TAXI members. Chuck is also gradually creating more songs for this publishers needs.Kelly G. (New York)-After a one-on-one mentoring session at last years TAXI Road Rally with the Owner of an Independent Music Publishing company, Kelly signed a non-exclusive licensing deal for her new Rock album entitled “I Wish I Was Alive.”Harry K. (New Jersey)-Harry and his band recently signed a non-exclusive deal for 13 Public Domain Christmas Instrumentals that they created with vintage acoustic instruments, giving them a renaissance feel. These unique tracks were signed as result of a forward through TAXI to a LA-based Music Library/Publisher.Vicky E. (New York)-Vicky recently reported to us that her previous deal through TAXI with a LA-based Online Music Licensing Company for 5 of her songs is now looking to be a 50 song licensing deal after she sent them two vocal albums, two solo piano albums, and a few holiday tracks.Keep those deals comin' guys!
