Could use some feedback

I am new to taxi, and as of today have submitted 10 songs - 2 which were returned, the others still pending. I have no real point of reference other than the great songs I've heard from many of you. I understand my songs may not be up to TAXI forwarding caliber yet, BUT, that doesn't mean I don't want to work towards that.

My friend and I put together a song "A Better Look" for the car commercial. The feedback is perfect as it let's me know where to focus:

"Lyrics work but the track itself is not contemporary enough and a bit expected. Production could use some finesse, a bit murky. Vocals did a good job!"

I hear and agree with the murkyness in the mix, but, I'm not sure how to fix it. If any of you have recommendations/wisdom for me, I really would appreciate it!
