what do you do for drums on your tracks?

With the low cost drum tools available there is no reason to program a drum track note by note like the old days.
When you say "program a drum track note by note" does this include playing the parts from a KB?

Technically, perhaps not, since you can play up to ten notes at once from a keyboard controller, twelve, if you also use your nose and....um, other foot. :D

I play a MIDI trap kit, firing samples from Addictive Drums, Larry Seyer and Oceanway, among others. I think it pays to know how to program drums, even though I can play 'em; I may not always feel like walking over and firing up the kit to do a few quick edits, particularly when I want to work fast. In MIDI, it's a very simple matter to move notes back and forth in the timeline, swap out kitpieces or entire kits, delete stray hits, bring up soft hits, etc. and all completely transparent. I'd probably still do some programming and certainly editing, (on a note by note basis) even if I put a DAW remote at the drum station.
