My first placement!!! (in Monk)

Post by bleuciel » Tue Feb 05, 2008 6:01 pm

I've had a nice email this morning from a music library where I have deals. They placed one of my songs in Monk, and it aired Friday, February 1st. After one year and a half at Taxi I have 12 songs signed in 3 different music libraries and this is my first placement. I don't know if there's a sign there but it's also the first song I've written in my life (in 1973...) It's a French song (I write primarily my songs in French which is my mother tongue) and the title is Deux millions d'étoiles; it means Two Milllion Stars. I've put an English translation of the meaning of the lyrics.Deux millions d'étoiles:www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=40149&stream=1YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!! I've written and produced the song, it's performed by Thierry Fortuit (a French friend and singer) and we've mixed it together, Mike Goudreau and I. Two Million Thanks to Mike, and to Michael Laskow for creating and building TAXI.Jean Custeau / bleuciel@mail.comTWO MILLION STARSThe rain, the ice, your absence weary meThe road home drags onThe night overcomes me and this night exhausts meI close the door without a soundI saw two million starsBefore my eyes like a veilHere the fire “embers”Outside fall shiversI am overwhelmed, tired, it is nightI return to a castle of tendernessMy heart, my friend, my renewed youthRolled up in your lovely dreamsI saw two million starsBefore my eyes like a veilHere the fire “embers”Outside fall shiversYou open your eyes, you give me your handAnd in the depth of your night you greet meI sleep, in my head the silence resoundsGoodnight my love, till tomorrowSoloI saw two million starsBefore my eyes like a veilOutside fall shiversHere the fire “embers”

Congratulations Jean!!The song is excellent, just sets the mood so perfectly. I'm not at all surprised this got used!Monk is a great show too. Did you get a chance to see "your episode" yet?I've been doing this for many years now, and I still get excited when I hear one of my songs on tv or in a movie. Monday night I watched "Prison Break" on a whim and heard two of my songs in it ...I didn't even know about it. This type of surprise never gets old... I wish you the very best of luck and many more placements! matto

hey jean, major congrats - that's very cool!Quote:I've been doing this for many years now, and I still get excited when I hear one of my songs on tv or in a movie. thanks to the help of cisco I recently heard my song playing for 1:47 min in "lincoln heights" on abc family - althought I've got tracks in various mtv shows, this was the first time I've actually heared one of my tracks in a major tv show. very exciting indeed!cheers, martin

great stuff and congrats on the placement. Reminds me of a french vocal group I used to listen to called Tri Yann (I think that's how you spell it?). From Brittany.doug s.

Thanks to all of you for your warm comments. And to Matto, I didn't get the chance to watch "my episode" yet because where I live in Quebec we can't catch it in original version. It's aired here in French by a network of Montreal. I don't care to wait, the sweet taste will just increase. Jean Custeau / bleuciel@mail.com
