2 more placements :)

Post by fusilierb » Tue Mar 08, 2011 3:57 pm

Man, this is starting to get fun! I just got home from Mardi Gras about an hour ago. Decided to check the ASCAP website and I see two brand new placements. This time some show called, "housebound: trapped inside" on The Learning Channel. Never heard of it, sounds scary. Probably some show about people too scared to leave their house or something. Still trying to find more details.

One piece got used for :57 seconds, which I think is pretty good for a TV show(??) I don't even know what the piece is. The title was just a number. I'll have to get in touch with the library tomorrow to find out which piece it was.

The other piece was used for :22 and was the same piece that got placed a couple of months ago on the Discovery Channel. It's a solo piano piece, very simple. This is starting to make me wonder why I'm spending so much time on these big orchestral things that take forever to do. That piano piece was done in less than an hour and has already been used 7 times. Hmmm...

Anyhow's, another direct hookup from Taxi that I'm starting to get some real mileage out of. Thanks Micheal!!

Hey congrats Bryan!! Very cool!!

Yes, the orchestra pieces are a labor of love, and they take a lot more gear to really pull off!! Considering that an orchestra piece and a piano piece in the background probably pay the same, it really makes one take pause, for sure!

Keep rockin'!!

Woo Hoo!!

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

it's not the gear, it's the ear!

Thanks gents.

Mazz they are a labor of love. And as much as I bitch about it, I really do love writing them and even futzing around for days to try to get them to sound good.

And this relates to another thread here, but simpler is more effective, and apparently more useful behind visuals. It does make a person stop and think.

Congrats Bryan! Well done!

I love the fact that we can check our ASCAP pages for cue sheet filings...

Of course, I do find myself logging into ASCAP and checking quite often... I think right now I'm doing it every 30 milliseconds. Is that a little neurotic? :o

;) Casey

Thanks again everyone!

Yes Casey, it is nice to be able to check the ASCAP site. And YES, I'm hitting the refresh button a little too often lately. It's time to step away from the website. :(
