Thanks a lot for all the welcomes ! This has to be the most welcoming and warm forum that exists! :)

So, i uploaded this piece I music I wrote for a short film, both without and with mastering. Now that I listen to it, it seems the mastered version has too much compression, but I'll wait for your opinions!

Alex,

You probably should post a new thread with this song. Anyhow, I'm not going to give you my opinions on mastering or mixing because my skills in those areas are limited. Regarding composition, I think this is a very nice piece. I must admit though that I couldn't wrap my head around the dissonance at 1:24. Listened several times and it wasn't working for me. I think the part with the solo strings just ahead of that is the strongest section of the piece. I sensed that the cello, or whatever it is, might need to breath a bit. And like I said, you may want to re-post as a new thread so more can comment. There are some talented instrumental composers on this forum. This piece is worth some effort for sure.

I use import settings in iTunes (edit/preferences/general/import settings/custom) to massage my WAV's to 44.1 kHz, 320 kbps mp3's. If you can record at 44.1 kHz it makes it easier also. I can't hear the difference between 44 and 48, but can hear the difference between 192 and 320 kbit/second. The size penalty is not that great for the increase in sonic quality.

You sound like you have some good stuff, but the samples are too short to get into them.

Welcome aboard....
