How do?

Post by burkeproductions » Mon Mar 14, 2011 3:41 pm

Hey folks! I'm Lisa and I would like to introduce myself. I am a life long musician, songwriter and performer now delving into TAXI (since the Rockstar ship has sailed)......absorbing like a sponge since my learning curve is around recording/production, plan to spend a lot of time here!

I have had one song placement (by accident) on an indie film in San Francisco. Made a whopping $80 and learned a bit about licensing agreements.......ready to do this for real and plan to spend a portion of my tax return starting membership with Taxi and setting up shop! In the meantime I am a drummer for an all girl tribute to The Ramones (The Hormones) and also a co-writer/vocalist for my original band Luvhed.

Really like the collaborative environment here, appreciate the communal vibe! Thanks in advance for the help I plan to enlist (hope I can return the support in some small way).

Howdy, Lisa.

Welcome aboard. Taxi is great - maybe the best $300 I spent on my music career in a long time. There are a lot of great musicians who hang out here, and a lot to learn/share. Look forward to hearing some of your music.

Cheers.

Hi Lisa! This is one wonderful place, you're going to love it. Funny...I play bass in a Seattle based Ramones tribute called Rawmones. :D

Thanks everybody! Just to let you know, I plan to visit and listen to each of your music links today, want to make sure feedback is welcome here or directly? Sorry, my first forum.....@ Kayle, awesome track on your website! Love the mix, curious to know what of the instrumentation were live (besides the piano, obviously)..? I've got some rough mixes to post, some fully produced, where does one go about posting?

Happy listening!

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to the forum and Taxi. It's a great step to take on your journey. If you are open to learning and growing, which it seems like you are, then you can go as far as you want to go.

I think there are a few of us on here that are Bay Area folks. Maybe we should have a meetup.

Good luck on your adventure!

I'm not sure what track you listened to, but the latest stuff from my XI album is mostly all live players - bass, drums, guitar and sax, an I played the piano/keyboards.

I use soundcloud.com for most stuff. I also use bandcamp.com for tracks I want to offer for sale or is finished. But soundcloud.com is great - it is free, and it doesn't require Flash. I like Reverbnation too, but it requires flash, and I am trying to remove all flash from my life.

Thanks for your comments.
Cheers -
