TAXI custom critique leads to record deal!

Post by ethnopot » Mon Mar 17, 2008 8:44 am

If a music professional asked you for 10 bucks to tell you what they thought about your song would you pass the deal? If your answer is yes you gotta be crazy!!!!!!!!!! Here is my humble success story (Don't yawn ok? I'll keep it short! )I had a dream in 1992 ....I had just graduated in Computer Science but I ad this deep feeling that I could compose music although I couldn't read notes. I bought a drum machine first and that was the start of something very exciting....years later in 2003 after I studied music which had always been my dream I composed my first album which took me about a year from start to finish....full of hope I started sending out CDs...the result? Silence Silence...you've tasted this right? My world tumbled down...Later I found TAXI on the web. I thought wow thats a great idea...I am gonna give it a go....So I joined. What a great decision that was! The first thing I did was send TAXI my CD for a full 12 song Custom Critique. By the time I got the results I had applied to many ads in TAXI. I was never forwarded and naturally I was dissappointed to say the least. But what happened next was Awesome.....My membership expired in 2004 and I decided not to renew it because my music which I had to admit was not up to standard......NEXT I took those custom critiques and studied the hell out of them!!!!I analysed 10s of songs....I bought 10s of books........I took one song TAXI liked but thought I should work on it and reworked the hell out of it!Next I made a new Demo CD with this song (2007) and sent it out to record labels! Guess what ? After 6 months I got a record deal !!!!!!!!!!!!!Not only that I got in in a collection album with Eurovision Superstars!!!!!!!!!!!!!Check it all out on Ethnopot.com..So ? The moral of the story?GET REVIEWED DONT GET DEPRESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanna thank TAXI from the bottom of my heart for those critiques. So if they reject you initially don't be angry g....get curious and listen to what they are telling you because they know their stuff!!!!!!!!!!!111Thank you for this wonderful opportunity and congrats if you got this far.LoveAliEthnopot.com

Hi, Great inspiring story. What amazes me the most is your age . It's an inspiration to a guy like me who's getting close to 60. Billy

I am impressed by your story too. Your road to success gives me an idea for an analogy:Whenever I start work for a new employer (I'm an accountant) I am always presented with a set of keys - usually two: One key to the building and another key to a private office. It seems to me that working with Taxi is a lot like that: One of the keys to success in the music business is the series of doors that Taxi opens for our music. The other key is our willingness to work hard to make our music as good as it can be.Sorry if this analogy sounds lame... I dreamed it up just now. Congrats Ali! You worked hard & you deserve your success! -Allen
