Need guitar samples

Post by Eric Bolvin » Mon Mar 28, 2011 10:30 am

Any recommendations on a guitar samples library?
Not acoustic.
Rock, blues and pop sounds.
Or maybe I need an amp simulator? Any suggestions on those as well.

Thanks!!~

Music Lab real guitar is good. The Prominy libraries are excellent but require a ton of time to learn how to get good stuff out of them. Those are the ones I'm familiar with.

I use Guitar Rig 4 and the Waves guitar amp/FX plugin, can't remember the name off the top of my head. Line 6 and Peavey also make good ones.

I strongly suggest, however, finding a compatible guitar player and doing collaborations. You'll spend a lot less time tweaking MIDI stuff that may or may not sound right anyway. For some styles you can get away with a backing track, for others, it's just not that great, in my experience.

You may want to check these out http://www.pettinhouse.com/html/products.html

For ampsims, I've personally found the Amplitube Fender the most natural and warm sounding http://www.ikmultimedia.com/fender/features/ , but the free Guitar Rig Player http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... -4-player/ will take you far, especially if you just need "flavours".

The ampsims are cool, and you can use the effects for other things too, but they contain no samples or loops.

If you have Kontakt, some other more cinematic options, are electricity http://www.vir2.com/instruments/electri6ity and cinematic guitars http://www.samplelogic.com/cinematicguitars.html

Would concur on the vir2 library, which I've been pretty happy with through Logic amp designer. Also been having some programming fun lately with Scarbee Funk Guitarist, although it's something I'd always rather get someone in here for if I have the time to schedule a live session. Boy oh boy, I wish I had spent some time becoming a less sucky guitar player back in high school when I had time...you ever just stop and wish for a second that you had known back THEN what you really loved to do? Oh well...

Best of luck with everything!

I've run the Vir2 through a real amp. It's pretty cool!

Duh. Why haven't I tried that? Dammit. :) Time to re-amp all of my tunes that use Vir2...
